ANDERSON FORD MOTORSPORT researched not only the camshaft lobe profile needs of today's computer controlled engines, but function and operation of the computer itself! What we found were certain aspects of controlled engine operation that, with the correct cam profile, would allow the on-board computer to function without misreading the cam and causing a drivability problem.
AFM cams are designed to significantly increase the "rate of acceleration", a term used by cam designers to describe the speed at which the cam lobe begins to open the valve, and similar design characteristics in closing the valve as well.
The results are a camshaft that makes a significant improvement in all phases of engine power and performance without interfering with function and advantages of the on-board computer system!
Finally, after all the research and design of the AFM cams, we took it one step further with extensive dyno testing. WHY?
