NEW AFM MR. FREEZE
Read 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords Article
New from Anderson, methanol/water injection. Mr. Freeze is simplistic, yet effective. Being activated by boost and metered by jetting, Mr. Freeze is easily optimized.
Mr. Freeze is an easy bolt-on for all centrifugal supercharges and turbochargers.
Water/Methanol injection is very powerful and is a simple way to:
-- Lower charge and combustion temperatures
-- Slow flame front speed and lower rate of pressure increase
-- Extend time of burning and reaction rate
-- Allow engines to go to higher power before onset of detonation
The design of Mr. Freeze is new to the auto industry, but not to the aircraft Industry and is the basic design they used in the Merlin engine P-51 Mustang fighter planes that ruled the skies in World War II.
This design puts the methanol water through the supercharger (like on the P-51s) which removes compressor heat.
It thoroughly mixes the water/methanol/air in compressor, and enters each cylinder as a uniform mixture.
In initial testing with Mr. Freeze we have documented up to as much as 97 additional rear wheel horsepower with the proper tuning using 93 octane pump gas and the HP jet. With the proper tuning and 100 octane racing gas, Mr. Freeze was capable of an additional 115 rear wheel horsepower! On the HP jet. At a low price of $189.00, nothing on the market today can offer you the horsepower per dollar value of Mr. Freeze.
PMS Tuning Tips for Mr. Freeze
with HP JetFor cars already properly tuned on pump fuel with the PMS
using a centrifugal supercharger:
Make a base run and watch the Air Charge Temp in the PMS and write down what it is at max boost. After installing Mr. Freeze, make another base run and again watch the ACT in the PMS at max boost. You should see a drop of 60 degrees or more. Given these results, on average you should be able to go into your PMS and lean down WOT fuel tables by 6% to 10% and add about 9 to 15 degrees timing at WOT or in the boost tables. This should get you close on the tune.
This is Curt Burrell's '96 Cobra Mustang with DSS short block, stock heads, cams and intake
S-Trim Vortech with Anderson Power Pipe and 8 rib pulley setup making 17lb of boost.
With and Without Mr. Freeze!
This is Jim Burr's '87 Mustang Coupe with AOD Trans., 302 YSI with 20lb of boost
with PMS and Mr. Freeze.
How much Boost/Horse Power can you make on pump gas and Mr. Freeze?
How about 759 rwhp with 23lb of Anderson/Vortech YSI kit boost.
Check out the June issue of 5.0 Mustang/Super Ford to read how we got there.
We will be pushing the boost up in the future. Stay tuned.
