Bruce Hemminger was at it again for the NMRA event in Bowling Green, KY. for the season finale! Bruce reset both sides of the NMRA Real Street Record running 9.166 E.T. @ 147.42 MPH. Wow!!!
Congratulations goes out to Bruce as well as the rest of the NMRA 2011 Class Champions.

Congrats, once again, goes out to Bruce Hemminger for both the NMRA Atco Real Street Win as well as the NMRA/NMCA Superbowl Real Street Runner-up using the AFM 1 3/4" Big Tube Stainless Shorty Headers.

The Performance Season is well underway with 2 NMRA races complete. We were at the last event in Commerce, GA in the Vendor Midway. With the exception of a stormy evening, it was a great event to attend. We really enjoyed meeting some of our long-time customers as well as making new ones. AFM is taking part in the NMRA Contingency Program once again this year, offering contingency rewards for using our 1 3/4" Big Tube Stainless Shorty Headers. On that note, Congrats goes out to both Bruce Hemminger for the Real Street Win in Bradenton, and, Craig Baldwin for the Real Street Win in Commerce. Both Bruce and Craig were running the AFM 1 3/4" Big Tube Stainless Shorty Headers.

The PRI show in Orlando this yeat was great with a lot of new products. The one that I liked the most (because we have needed them for years) was a bigger drop in factory style fuel pump. Aeromotive has stepped up now and made a 340 LPH fuel pump that fits into the stock hangers on most Fords. I will have these on our web with specifications and applications as soon as I have the information from Aeromotive.
The other piece I liked was the CTEK battery charger. These chargers are great for cars that are not driven every day. Check them out on our web.

We had first ordered a Red 2011 Mustang GT 6-speed in January to do a series of tech articles for the magazines. There ended up being a problem with how we ordered a test car through Ford and we did not receive it until July. This was too late to do the tech articles that we had planned to do for the magazines.
So we had to look at what we wanted to do long term with the new 2011 Mustang. Not just tech articles and decided to reorder a White 2011 Mustang GT 5.0 automatic on October the 21st. This will be our new test mule for product evaluation and development and just plain fun at the drag strip. We decided on the 6R80 automatic for two reasons. First reason anyone can drive the car at the track with consistent times. Second is with the software available for this transmission we can do 4th gear with converter lock up, on the dyno and get a graph like a stick shift car which is better to evaluate combinations and products with.
We will have it on the track and the dyno as soon as we get it and will let you know the results.

we had decided to try a 5R55S automatic in our 05 Mule to see how well 5R55S would work for street & strip. The 5R55S we found had 30000 mile on it, so we started with that. We had decided to start with a stock trans so we could find out the weak link in the 5R55S.
The only things we did do to our stock 5R55S is a Performance Automatic deep oil pan, Precision Industries 3500 stall converter and a Dyno Danny transmission tune with Diablosport software.
We have heard good and bad things about these Trans, but wanted to see for ourselves what they would take.
On the dyno the 5r55S transmission, locked in 4th gear and the converter locked up showed a 40 RWHP drop over the stock 5-speed transmission. On the street the 5R55S with the P.I. converter is a blast to drive ( never thought I would say that about a auto)
After a lot of street pulls ( if you know what I mean) it was time for the track.
They were having Vicary day at Cordova Dragway and I was invited. Our first pass with leaving the line at an idle was a 1.679 60ft 6.924@103.58 in the 1/8 10.72@130.12 in the ¼. Second pass with foot breaking to 2800 rpms ran 1.547 60ft 6.76@104.14 in the 1/8 10.54@130.62 in the ¼ and then I was asked politely not to make another pass faster than 11.50 because I had no roll bar. I had tried a couple 60ft runs and decided to make a 1/8 mile pass and get hard on the brakes. Leaving at 3000 rpm on the foot brake I went 1.482 60ft 6.62@105.05 in the 1/8 10.80@93.75 in the ¼ and was asked nicely to leave until I have installed the correct safety equipment.

AFM Just finished a series of articles for 5.0 Mustang/Super Ford on a 2002 Mustang GT. These tech articles really show the potential of the two valve engine in the 96-04 Mustng. These articles should be starting in the January issue of 5.0. We will have links to them as soon as 5.0 mustang has them on their web
